Archetype 1 - Thinking About Saraswati
This is a giclee print of a reduction linocut based around ideas of archetypal godesses, and very loosely inspired by the Hindu Goddess Saraswati, who is of great importance to the arts and education.
The original print is a hand-painted variable edition reduction linocut, which resulted in three goddess archetypes. The production method was inspired by the hand painting of Japanese woodblock and was made using soy based Japanese ink on recycled Khadi paper. As well as the textural and spontaneous painted elements, I wanted these to have the qualities of old Indian bazaar prints.
These giclee prints come in a limited edition of 100 and are shipped direct from the printer.
I am donating 50% of the profits from every sale of the Saraswati goddess prints to the Ashkaya Patra Foundation which is a children's charity based in the UK and India that provides free and healthy school meals in both countries. Donations will be made on a sale by sale basis, so as soon as the money is processed from the sale I will send the donation off.
